Off-the-shelf apps cover the common cases. When your sales process has rules of its own — quantity discounts on a B2B catalog, products assembled from components, reports the Shopify admin doesn’t produce — you need an app built on your workflow.

Shopify APIs (GraphQL Admin API, Storefront API), App Bridge, Polaris, Shopify Functions; backend in PHP/Symfony or Node.js, queues and webhooks for asynchronous flows.
