Shopify eCommerce design and delivery

Shopify eCommerce design and delivery

Shopify can be a sound base for B2C commerce and some B2B contexts, but the platform alone does not solve migration, catalogue, data, integrations and operational continuity. The work connects the store to business processes from the initial choice through post-release evolution.

Situations where support is needed

  • A new store needs clear scope, data sources and responsibilities.
  • A migration needs to preserve content and reconnect existing systems.
  • The current theme and apps do not cover the process without manual work.
  • The store is live while ERP, PIM, marketplaces or warehouse remain disconnected.

The intended operating model

The store needs to support the agreed sales model, with verifiable data and integrations, clear ownership and continuity after go-live. I do not present one platform as suitable for every case; the choice is assessed against the operating process.

What I examine

Catalogue, markets, pricing, availability, checkout, payments, shipping, content, migration, technical SEO, ERP, PIM, CRM, WMS, marketplaces and functions that may require apps or development.

What delivery can include

  • Catalogue, markets, payments, taxes and shipping configuration.
  • Theme development and customisation with Liquid, sections and blocks.
  • Data and content migration with a URL map and verification plan.
  • ERP, PIM, CRM, WMS and marketplace integrations.
  • Custom Shopify apps where existing options do not cover the process.
  • Evolution, monitoring and support after release.

Decisions that define the store

Before development, the work decides whether Shopify fits the sales model, which data to migrate, which apps to buy or avoid, where integration is needed and who maintains the theme, code and flows over time.

How the work proceeds

Analysis and architecture come before configuration and development. Work proceeds through verifiable releases, acceptance criteria, production and continuity. See the Method page.

What I handle personally

I handle technical choices, architecture, development, integrations and verification. Where designers, agencies or suppliers are involved, I keep scope and responsibilities explicit.

Relevant published work

The Portfolio documents Kikkiline’s migration from Magento 2 to Shopify, with Danea Easyfatt integration and a JSON feed export. No outcomes are added beyond the published entry.

Technologies and platform

Shopify, Liquid, App Bridge, GraphQL and REST APIs, webhooks, PHP/Symfony and Node.js for middleware and integrations. Technology remains subordinate to the architecture and operating process.
